Hemo Forte Syrup combines Iron (III)-Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex and folic acid to treat and prevent iron and folic acid deficiencies with excellent gastrointestinal tolerance.
Description
Hemo Forte Syrup is a specialized nutritional supplement combining Iron (III)-Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex and folic acid to address iron and folic acid deficiencies. Unlike conventional ferrous iron salts, the polymaltose complex holds iron in ferric form, preventing the formation of free radicals, and offers rapid absorption, effective haemoglobin production, and excellent gastrointestinal tolerance.
Composition
Each 15 ml contains:
- Iron (III) Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex eq. to Elemental Iron 50 mg
- Folic Acid I.P. 0.5 mg
Mechanism of Action
In Hemo Forte Syrup, iron exists as an iron (III)-hydroxide complex embedded in a carbohydrate polymer (polymaltose), which prevents the iron from causing gastrointestinal harm. Because iron is held in ferric rather than ferrous form, the electron-release reaction responsible for free radical formation does not occur. Folic acid supports DNA synthesis and red blood cell production and maturation, helping prevent megaloblastic anemia and supporting rapid development during pregnancy and childhood.
Indications
Prevention and treatment of all kinds of iron deficiencies, particularly iron deficiency anaemia, and prevention of folic acid deficiency.
Dosage
As directed by the physician.
Side Effects
Nausea, regurgitation, constipation, pyrosis (burning sensation in the chest), upset stomach may occur with hematinics. Iron may cause stools to turn black, an effect that is not harmful; these effects are usually temporary.
Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
Drug Interactions
Since the iron is complex-bound, ionic interaction with foodstuff components, tetracyclines, and antacids is unlikely to occur.
Storage
Store in a cool & dark place. Shake well before use.
