Oral Inhalation

Each soft gelatin capsule contains:

• Camphor USP 25 mg
• Eucalyptol USP 125 mg
• Chlorothymol 5 mg
• Menthol IP 55 mg
• Terpineol BP 120 mg
• Excipients q.s.

Menthol is primarily employed to relieve symptoms of bronchitis, sinusitis, and similar conditions. For this purpose, it may be administered as an inhalation or incorporated into an ointment along with camphor and eucalyptus oil for application to the chest and nostrils. Camphor, when applied externally, acts as a rubefacient and a mild analgesic. It is also a principal ingredient in many nasal decongestants used for inhalation. Eucalyptus oil is commonly used for inhalation, often in combination with other volatile substances. Its active component, eucalyptol, possesses antibacterial properties and helps alleviate breathing difficulties in individuals with croup, asthma, and bronchitis. It is also applied externally to relieve chest congestion, ease muscular aches and pains, and serve as a deodorant. Terpineol exhibits anti-infective properties, while chlorothymol, a multipurpose phenolic antiseptic, is particularly useful for symptomatic relief from the common cold.

Instus Inhalant Capsule is indicated for the prompt relief of symptoms of common cold, sinusitis, pharyngitis and other conditions accompanied by congestion of the upper respiratory tract.

1 capsule 2-3 times a day.

Snip off the tip of the capsule. Squeeze out contents into half a litre of boiling or hot water and inhale the vapours deeply and freely. Add on a tissue or a cloth handkerchief and inhale. At night, the inhalant can be effectively used on the pillow or nightdress.

The use of Instus Inhalant Capsule is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the formulation.

No adverse events have been reported with the use of Instus Inhalant Capsule.

Direct contact of Instus Inhalant Capsule with the eyes and nostrils is to be strictly avoided. In case of exposure to the eyes or nostrils, rinse/wash thoroughly with cold water. Instus Inhalant Capsule is not intended for oral administration. It should never be exposed to flame or kept near a microwave.

Store in a cool & dry place.
